Streets & Drainage

The mission of the Street Maintenance Division is to provide responsive and effective management and maintenance of city streets.

Functions & Responsibilities

The Streets and Drainage Division provides roadway maintenance, improvement, resurfacing and reconstruction of streets including asphalt and brick repair, sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and catch basins. Street / traffic sign maintenance and street sweeping are also an integral role of this division.

Sewer Maintenance

This division also maintains and constructs storm sewers citywide. Most tasks are performed in-house using qualified personnel and city owned equipment to provide timely and efficient service to city residents.

Structure Maintenance

The division maintains:

  • 103 miles of curb and gutter,
  • 13 miles of canals
  • 156 alleyways
  • 162 miles of paved streets
  • 5 miles of unpaved streets
  • 70 miles of storm sewer lines
  • 77 miles of sidewalks
  • Approximately 3,915 drainage structures

In addition, the Streets and Drainage Division assists other city departments with construction needs.

To request minor repairs and/or maintenance of a city sidewalk, roadway, pothole, curb or gutter, please call (772) 467-3795 for assistance. We value your input, so if you have any suggestions on how we can best serve you, please let us know.

Reporting Emergency Conditions

Personnel are available for 24 hour call-out needs due to storm-related damage and other emergencies after hours. These requests, along with traffic and street problems, should be directed through 911. The Fort Pierce Police Department's none emergency number is (772) 465-5770.
